OBS Group is one of the top pharmaceutical players amongst 695 companies with a strong presence in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It is among the very few companies in Pakistan which has specialized in developing strategic business alliances with reputed international firms like Organon, Merck & Co. Inc. USA and Schering Plough. OBS Group has achieved these strategic alliances by providing a full range of high quality professional services encompassing manufacturing, marketing and sales of pharmaceutical and consumer health products.
Currently OBS Group operates via two companies i.e. AGP and Aspin Pharma under the umbrella of Aitkenstuart / OBS Healthcare Pakistan.
History & Heritage
2006
Organon (now OBS Healthcare) was acquired by Mr. Tarek Khan in 2006 via a management buyout. The company has a topline of PKR 260mn at the time of acquisition.
2007
OBS launched its generic division by the name of OBS Pharma to specialize in a variety of first line therapeutics
2008
OBS took over Merck Sharp & Dohme Pakistan Ltd.’s operations and manufacturing along with its major brands thereby developing a strategic partnership with Merck & Co. Inc. USA.
2009
OBS acquired several MSD brands in Sri Lanka via further alliance with Merch & Co. Inc. USA. This was the Group’s first international venture and it set the tone for future expansion.
2009
Aklima Clinical Research was established to usher a new era of clinical research and trial management in Pakistan. The center partnered with Norton Audits Inc. USA to develop skilled clinical researchers.
2010
OBS acquired Schering Plough Business from MSD
2014
OBS acquired AGP (Pvt.) Ltd. and AGP Healthcare (Pvt.) Ltd. along with its products and generic brands. This was a strategic move to enter the generic market for future growth.
2015
OBS acquired Janssen, the pharmaceutical division of Johnson & Johnson Pakistan along with its major brands. The business was subsequently renamed Aspin Pharma.
2015
OBS strategic alliance with Mylan (USA) to offer Mylan products. These products are marketed by AGP.
2016
OBS strategic alliance with Santen (Japan) to offer Santen Products.
2017
OBS strategic alliance with Vifor (Switzerland) to offer Vifor products In Pakistan.
2018
AGP Limited, has been listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange with the market capitalization of ~ USD 220 Mn
OBS acquired two brands of GSK from Aspen Pharma, South Africa.
2019
OBS divested MSD, Vifor, Santen, Schering Plough, Portfolio
2021
OBS-AGP is setup to acquire Sandoz products in Pakistan
